Here is Jacinda at the Halifax Junior Bengal Lancers, she is saying hello to Phyllis. Jacinda is really enjoying her time at camp, learning how to care for horses, and how to clean and groom them. This is a wonderful program based on a memorial fund that was started in memory of a young rider(Lucy) who passed away suddenly at the young age of 24. Her family started a fund in her honor that allows kids who deserve it a chance to experience the in's and outs of riding.
Here Jared and Naomi say hello to Cash, a gorgeous Appaloosa. He is very gentle and sticks his tongue out to reach you! Bengal Lancers is the stable where Sarge the police mount lives.
Here Jacinda combs Cash down with a currie comb. The children are learning the terms and tools used. Jacinda tells me there are four combs that are used, not all are for the horses body, some are for the feet!
Here is Jacinda leading Fred from the indoor arena. The girls just rode and practiced their balance while the horses sped up and switched gaits.
Jacinda will be taking part in a mini horse show this Friday afternoon then having a short party. She is having such a great time that I think we need to save up the 400 dollars for her to have 3 months of beginner lessons, she is going to volunteer with me on Sundays in the Fall to be near the horses. I want to thank my boss Renee, she has let me get off early everyday so I can go home and pick Jacinda up and take her to camp, and it has made the week so much easier. Thanks Renee!!
